Pumpkin soup-nutrition at the barn

Hate to Cook? Me too.

yes, I hate to cook……I can hear your wheels turning, “but you are a Nutritionist?”

I get it…..it may seem contraindicating to be a holistic nutritionist and not enjoy cooking. But in my life, food was never about nutrients, macros, antioxidants and fuel. I did not grow up thinking this way. Then, add on a career in Photojournalism for 20 plus years, averaging 10 cups of coffee a day, adrenaline based assignments and deadlines…….there was no time for food and cooking!!! But I can take pretty pictures of food!

I only started thinking about food as fuel and products as potential toxin contributors when I started being a rep for the incredible brand called Arbonne. When I hit my midlife question at age 40….is this the next 40? Can I really keep doing this for another 40 years? I started to become very interested in using food as fuel for health and immunity, and teaching my teenage girls the power of choosing products properly.  At that time with sore body, camera gear costing thousands and never seeing my family….my inside voice said NO. So yes, Holistic Nutrition is my second career.

Moroccan Spiced Pumpkin Soup

Soooo now that I told you this secret “I am the Holistic Nutritionist who hates to cook” I am gonna share a recipe. HA!

This soup is easy enough for me to create and during this amazing fall time in Canada, PUMPKINS are in abundance! Making a soup with ingredients straight from the farmer’s market is a HUGE win in my book. I may not cook the best, but I can tell you all the health reasons and arguments WHY you need to shop local and cook from locally grown produce.

This recipe is part of my Metabolic Balance Coaching program. A program that focuses on balancing my client’s systems based on, blood values, personal measurements and personal details captured during our intake interview. This program based in Germany and is one of the leading weight loss programs supporting clients dealing with PCOS, Diabetes, Inflammation, and many more ailments.

The clear and simply constructed plan will show:

  • which foods should be eaten and which should be avoided
  • in what quantities foods should be eaten
  • in which combination foods should be eaten
  • when and how these foods should be eaten
  • how the 4 phases will become a new way of life.

Recipe Notes

This recipe is part of the Metabolic Balance Coaching program. Metabolic Balance® was developed following the observation that diet plays an important role in the regulation of the body’s natural functions and therefore also has an effect on wellbeing and health. We are all different, and what we consider to be normal foods and eating habits, may not be suitable for each and every individual. This self-regulation within the body can easily become unbalanced, which can lead to illness and obesity.

The Nutritional Concept

Metabolic Balance® is an integrated nutritional approach that is based on intensive support alongside an individual nutrition plan.
The clear and simply constructed plan will show:

  • which foods should be eaten and which should be avoided,
  • in what quantities foods should be eaten,
  • in which combination foods should be eaten,
  • when and how these foods should be eaten,
  • how the 4 phases will become a new way of life.

Each plan is unique and exists only once. This is because of the way the plans are created using:

  • blood values,
  • personal measurements,
  • personal details of the client.

With this information Metabolic Balance® can provide a plan that it tailored to the exact needs of the client and can even include information regarding:

  • allergies,
  • illnesses,
  • individual preferences or dislikes.

This offers a great opportunity to the growing number of people, who are already following a restricted diet – but also, for those who simply value their health.
